About Me

Dominic K. Hawkins

Founder & Principal, Factotum Consulting

I am the founder and principal of Factotum Consulting an integrated marketing consultancy, specializing in public relations.

Over the last decade, I’ve honed my skills in developing and delivering integrated marketing solutions for many well-known corporations, nonprofits, and public figures.

As director of public relations for a Fortune 100 financial services, I serve as the deputy business to business communications leader for one of the oldest, most reputable financial services companies with over $1.3 trillion in assets under management.

I was previously a PR lead at Deloitte, where I directed agencies, and executed strategic media relations and communications plans to build and protect Deloitte's brand reputation as a leader in the marketplace. That's also where I earned my Certified Marketing Professional designation from the Association of National Advertisers.

At SKDKnickerbocker (SKDK), I was a director of public affairs and specialized corporate PR, litigation communications (M&A, DOJ, FTC, CFIUS issues), tech PR, and special events. My work led to me being honored as a Rising PR Star by the prestigious PR News. I also advised civil rights/social justice organizations such as Al Sharpton/National Action Network, NAACP, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and Constitutional Accountability Center.

Prior to joining SKDK, I worked as a management consultant at Accenture for the United States Postal Service, as a financial consultant with AXA, and on the communications and public affairs teams at the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of the Interior, Reta Jo Lewis’ campaign for mayor of the DC and APCO Worldwide.

I'm a native New Yorker-turned D.C. transplant - who graduated from George Washington University (GW), where I studied communication and music. I’m an active member of the professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, and a member of the GW Black Alumni Association. I’ve also guest lectured at GW for Introduction to Communications Studies.
